MODERATOR, JOE PLATNICK, Director, Pasadena Angels

Joe has been Director of the Pasadena Angels since 2004. The Angels provide long-term human and financial capital to early-stage technology companies, and are one of the largest angel investment groups in the U.S. Since 2000 Pasadena Angels has provided tens of millions of dollars of early stage capital to over 65 companies. Joe is also a General Partner with iGlobe Treasury Management Ltd. (www.iglobetreasury.com), a Pan-Pacific Venture Capital firm. Prior to joining the Pasadena Angels, he was the Chief Operating Officer of Probandi, a security management company and the Vice President Worldwide Sales and Marketing for NxN Software AG. Joe holds Bachelors and Masters degrees from MIT. He has also been a frequent blogger (www.asktheangelsblog.com) and speaker on entrepreneurship for many local and international organizations and events.

BOB AHOLT, Board of Directors, Pasadena Angels

Bob Aholt has invested in early stage companies, providing long-term human and financial capital to help build the companies into successful entities. Typically, his focus is on technology and bio-tech/life sciences areas. As an active advisor to early stage companies, he engages as an official Board of Director and Board of Advisor as well as providing one-on-one guidance. He is also the managing director at Systems Consulting and Design, LLC, a boutique-consulting firm that supports clients in information technology and strategy areas. Previously, he was a founding partner at Systems Development, Inc. As a principal of SDI, he helped shepherd its growth into a multi-million dollar organization. His field of expertise and experience includes: accounting, finance & investments, information technology leadership & management, operations, business development and strategy implementation. His education includes an M.B.A. from USC with an emphasis in International Finance and Investment Analysis. He has a B.A. from UC, Santa Barbara, with a dual Major in Business Economics and Communication Studies.

 
RICHARD F. CLAYTON, Chief Financial Officer, MyShape

Before joining MyShape, Richard served as President of Broadway Department Stores, Chairman and CEO of Stør Furnishings International (sold to IKEA in 1992) and President and CEO of J.B. Research (doing business as Relaxor). He serves on the boards of several public and private national retail entities.

DAVID JONES, Managing Partner, Sail Venture Partners

David is a seasoned venture capitalist who translates this experience into added value for SAIL’s portfolio companies. His long history of experience in financial services, specifically leading and managing private equity and venture capital companies, makes him an important part of the SAIL team. Prior to joining SAIL,
he held leadership positions with several prominent organizations, including GFG Global Financial Group as Managing Director of this $500 Million fund of funds, Interven Partners as General Partner of this $51 Million venture capital partnership based on the West Coast, and First Interstate Capital as President & CEO of this private equity subsidiary of First Interstate Bancorp with approximately $200 Million under management. Dave has participated in multiple facets of the National Association of Small Business Investment companies, including the Board of Governors for 10 years, the Executive Committee and as Chairman in 1987.
He received an AB from Dartmouth College, an MBA & JD from the University of Southern California, where he was Managing Editor of the Southern California
Law Review.

BRIAN MESIC, Partner, Anthem Venture Partners

Brian joined Anthem when the first fund was formed in 2000. He currently serves on the board of directors of Blurb, CoCoDot, Meez, Viewdle, and Zag. He is an observer on the board of directors at Solarflare Communications and remains active in several other Anthem investments, including Buzznet and GridIron. Prior to its sale to Intersil, Brian was on the board of directors of Planet A.T.E. Before their merger and IPO, Brian was an observer on the boards of RFMagic and Entropic Communications. Brian previously worked in the LA office of McKinsey & Company where he specialized in corporate strategy and e-commerce. Brian earned his MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. Brian attended Occidental College in Los Angeles and earned degrees in both Biology and Economics. Brian is a Southern California native. He grew up in Palos Verdes and has spent most of his professional career in the Los Angeles area. Brian is a die-hard Lakers fan. Before parenthood, he was an active world traveler, SCUBA diver, and snowboarder.
